A thank you letter recently published in the RiverEast News Bulletin:
To the Editor,
As we reflect back on 2019, we have many people to thank for helping us support the families who utilize the Marlborough Food Bank. It is because of the compassion, awareness and generosity of so many in our community that we were able to serve nearly 95 families in 2019. Thank you to the many individuals and families who gave food and/or monetary donations. The Congregational Church of Marlborough, St. John Fisher Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Rotary Club of East Hampton, the Shops at Marlborough Barn, Lions Club of Marlborough and the families of Marlborough Elementary School are consistent and generous donor to our Food Bank. Thank you for the many food drives, community garden vegetables, monetary donations, winter coats, and so much more that these organizations and their members do to lift up and support those in need.
Thank you to Regions Real Estate Advisors for 60 Easter Hams.
Thanks to the Hometown Foundation of Cheshire for the donation of 60 Thanksgiving turkeys, St. John Fisher for 55 bags of Thanksgiving fixing, RHAM Girl Scouts for making apples pies and Dr. Gallagher and his staff for pumpkin pies.
Thank you to the Boy Scouts for making Christmas wreaths to brighten the doors of our clients’ homes.
Because of the kindness and generosity of Marlborough’s Liberty Bank customers, the Troop K State Police Toy Drive, Knights of Columbus, East Hampton Rotary Club, MVFD Women’s’ Auxiliary and several generous families, we were able to fulfill at least two Christmas wishes for each of our 39 children and teenagers as well as a small gift to our adult clients.
During 2019 we received grants from the Wireless Zone of Marlborough, the East Hampton Rotary Club and the Marlborough’s Liberty Bank Foundation totaling $3,200.
Finally, the Food Bank could not function without our 20+ adult volunteers and our many student volunteers. Your loyal support and commitment to helping others inspires us. We thank you all.
